Newly appointed Head Coach of Bangladesh Football team Javier Cabrera announced on Tuesday the 23-member Bangladesh Football squad for the upcoming FIFA friendly matches. The newcomers, who have been called by Cabrera are :Meraj Hossain and Faisal Hossain. The Spain-born Head Coach picked up the booters, who will play their first FIFA friendly match against Maldives at Male, the capital city of Maldives on March 24. Bangladesh Football squad will leave the city for Maldives on March 22. After playing against Maldives in the first FIFA friendly, Bangladesh squad will return home on March 25. Then, they will play against Mongolia in the second FIFA friendly at Sylhet Stadium in Sylhet on March 29.
The selected booters will report to Manager Iqbal Hossain on March 18 at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, a city hotel. The selected players will take part in a three-day long coaching camp before they play the first FIFA friendly matches.
According to the latest FIFA rankings, Bangladesh’s ranking is 186, while Maldives ranking is 157 and Mongolia’s ranking is 184.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation and Chairman of the National Team Management Committee Kazi Nabil Ahmed said, ” Javier Cabrera have chosen the footballers after watching the BPL Football. His team are pretty good. I hope our team will bring a good result from the upcoming FIFA friendly matches.”
The players, who have been chosen, are: Shahidul Alam Sohel, Anisul Islam Zico, Ashraful Islam Rana (Goalkeepers), Yeasin Arafat, Bishwanath Ghosh, Tariq Kazi, Rimon Hossain, Tutul Hossain Badsha, Nasirul Islam Nasir, Raihan Hasan (Defenders),
Sohel Rana, Atiqur Rahman Fahad, Jamal Bhuyan, Masuk Mia Jony, Mohammad Ibrahim, Rakib Hossain, Jewel Rana, Biplu Ahmed, Meraj Hossain (Midfielders), Sumon Reza, Nabib Newaj Jibon, Faisal Ahmed and Jafar Iqbal (Forwards).
