Consumers Association of Bangladesh on Thursday demanded arrest and exemplary punishment for those who were responsible for the disaster of Pinak-6 in the river Padma.
The leaders of the organisation demanded sufficient compensation for the deceased’s family members.
They said this in a press release yesterday (Thursday) signed by its General Secretary Advocate Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan.
They also expressed their sympathy for the bereaved families who lost their members.
The leaders praised the government for the immediate initiatives to rescue the passengers of sunken Pinak-6 launch. But the government is yet to trace the location of the launch.
They added that the launch which had the capacity of carrying maximum 85 passengers was sailing with about 300 on board. Moreover, it had no fitness certificate and majority of the launch staffs were not trained. That is why the vessel sank in the river.
