Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), the country’s first leadership institute, is hosting the fifth Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) to empower youth, build their leadership capabilities, and engage them in political processes so that their priorities are heard and reflected in national policies.
With the theme ‘Desh Amar Dayitto Amar’, (My Country, My Responsibility) the summit will bring together 400 young people of diverse backgrounds and professions from all over Bangladesh for three days of leadership training, discussions on social issues, and collaborative activities.
The United News of Bangladesh (UNB) and Nagorik Television are the media partner of the event, to be held at Bangabandhu Conference Center, Dhaka, from September 27 to 29, 2018.
BYLC is currently accepting applications for the Youth Leadership Summit 2018. Students studying at any accredited university in Bangladesh, and young professionals up to the age of 30 are eligible to apply. The last day to apply is August 16, 2018. The Summit will feature knowledge sharing plenaries on issues that affect youth including public leadership, gender equality, peace and inclusiveness, education, and employment.
Competitively selected through a rigorous application process, the YLS delegates will have the opportunity to lend their voices on youth development in Bangladesh by co-creating a ‘Youth Manifesto’.
This Youth Manifesto will be disseminated throughout the country through various channels and will be used as an advocacy tool for youth. Subsequently, 10 high performing young leaders from the YLS 2018 will be selected to form a panel and represent the youth of Bangladesh to government ministries to ensure that the recommendations on the Manifesto are truly heard.
