Buyers of filter water at risk

More than fifty percent water bottling plants in the city running their business of filter water without any legal licenses. As a result the city dwellers are in the utter risk of health by drinking these water.
 As per preliminary report of the BSTI, there are demands of 6 lakh liters of filter water in the city per day including 20 liters bottles.
A reliable sources said there are about 96 such bottling factories are grown up in the city but only 18 have their valid licenses from BSTI and 11 applicants for license now under process.
And the remaining water plants run their business without any license.
As a result govt is deprived of revenue for running the water filtering business without license , on the other hand consumers are being affected different water borne diseases by taking unfiltered water.
Chittagong Drinking Water Manufacturing Association sources said the unauthorized water plants company are selling their products with less amount than the legal producer’s product because of the unauthorized manufactures are not paying any types of taxes like VAT, license fees, city corporation tax etc. Conscious circles said BSTI, city corporation and District administration is not taking any measures against the unauthorized water manufacturers reasons best known to them.
While contacted the CCC Executive Magistrate Nazia Shirin told that they have launched a number of mobile court against them and some such illegal manufacturing plants was sealed off earlier.
