Mango sales and supply through online have increased significantly this year, especially from mango markets in Rajshahi, said the businessmen concerned.
Nowadays online marketplace is an easy and popular platform of business where consumers can get any product just by a click. Consumers order through websites or Facebook, and the product is delivered after receiving payment.
Like other products, mangoes have not fallen behind in online sale. Like previous years, business of Rajshahi mangoes is going on in full swing this year, informed the mango businessmen. Even mangoes are being exported abroad too through online marketplaces.
Because of easy transportation facility, consumers receive mangoes within 2-3 days of placing the orders. Mangoes are being sold in Chapainawabganj, Rajshahi and some other districts and upozilas of the northern region in the country, businessmen said.
Among these markets, Puthia has been the most popular one because this upozilla’s Baneshwar is the biggest mango market. The wholesalers send mangoes all around the country from this market. Mangoes are also sent abroad from this market. Online mango selling in Puthia has been going on for some years.
Placing orders and exchange of money take place online. Just after 2-3 days of orders, consumers receive the “formalin-free-mango” from Rajshahi.
Individually run companies in Rajshahi are selling mangoes online. However, the exact number of these companies could not be known. Businessmen create Facebook pages and post pictures of mangoes in order to attack consumers. Choosing from the pictures, interested consumers can communicate directly with the sellers via Messenger or phone and order for desired products. After placing orders mangoes are packaged accordingly and sent to the consumers.
