England’s right handed batsmen Jos Buttler and Joe Root are all set to play for Sydney Thunder in the upcoming Big Bash League 2018-19.
Jos Buttler and Joe Root will be available for seven games for Sydeny Thunder before the start of England’s Caribbean tour. Their inclusion to the team was confirmed on 24th August.
Joe Root, England Test skipper is in a big need for these kind of opportunities as he has to prove a lot in the shortest format of the game. He has played less than 20 T20 games in the last two years due to his national commitments specially in Test side.
Joe Root is so much excited about his new deal in T20 cricket. He said to the media :
“You want to be involved in it and I’m really excited to get that opportunity with Sydney Thunder.”
He further added “Everyone you speak to that has played in the Big Bash finds it a really interesting tournament and watching it you can see that.
I’ve had some really good experiences with Shane Bond in the past when I’ve worked with him and I’m really looking forward to doing that again.”
The wicket keeper Batsman Jos Buttler has already played six games for Sydney Thunder.
“I loved my time there, there’s a great atmosphere in the group.”
“There’s a lot of young guys but some experience in there as well, including Shane Watson who I really got to enjoy getting to know and playing under his captaincy.
“It’s a great part of the world and a really fun dressing room. I’m delighted to be back with the Thunder Nation,” he addressed.
Shane Bond, the head coach of Sydney Thunder also feels that their inclusion will create a considerable impact on the team. He sorted out “It’s brilliant for the club to get two players of their quality to join us. Everybody knows Jos is one of the best T20 players in the world. I know him very well from our time together at the Mumbai Indians.”
“I had the chance to work with Joe during the Ashes and I thought he was brilliant. They bring leadership to our team and you couldn’t ask for two better players.
I think you look at the team and the battering order and it’s a team that is going to be a force in the competition.
Our fans want to see us put a squad together that can win the competition. We had a young team last year that is developing and when you put a couple of world class players in the lineup it totally changes the look of the team.”
