The Butterfly Fair will be held on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on December 10 (Friday).
JU Zoology Department will organise the fair on the Zahir Raihan Auditorium premises to raise awareness to conserve butterfly in the environment. With the slogan of the Fair is “Urley Akashey Projaproti, Prokriti Pai Notun Goti. Prof Md Monwar Hossain, Convener of the fair, disclosed the date through a press conference held at the teachers’ lounge of JU central cafeteria on Wednesday afternoon. Prof Monwar said, “Considering the pandemic situation, we decided not to hold butterfly rally. This year, ‘Butterfly Award-2021’ will be given to Hasmat Ali, Assistant Professor of Alhaz Farhad Ali Memorial Degree College for his outstanding contribution to the environment. A young butterfly award for the young titled ‘Butterfly Young Enthusiast-2021’ will be given to Ashikur Rahman Sami, student of DU Zoology Department.
Meanwhile, Valerie Ann Taylor, a British-Bangladeshi physiotherapist, social worker who founded Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) Bangladesh will be awarded with a special award for his contribution in social welfare.
