Students of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) on Sunday demonstrated in front of its campus demanding opportunities for those students who have failed in four subjects in the final examinations.
The students also occupied the road in the capital’s Tejgaon Industrial area causing at least two hours halting of traffic movement with sufferings
to the passengers. About more than one hundred students started blocking the road from 11am on Sunday.
The protesters left the road after Vice-Chancellor Professor Masud Ahmed arrived there after two hours and assured the students of meeting their demand.
Traffic around Moghbazar and Mohakhali came to halt due to the protests, said Tejgaon Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner Baki Billah.
The students did not resort to any violence and returned to the campus afterwards, he added.
All logical demands will receive due consideration, but no unrest would be allowed on the campus, said VC Prof Mashud Ahmed.
