Several well-known businessmen and retired government officials have lost crores of taka in the hope of making lots of profit around a coin due to greed.
What a powerful things of this coin! No one understands of deception before lost everything.
Such a gang looted Tk1.5 crore from a group of company owner last December and on the allegation of that businessman police arrested five alleged involvement with the fraudulent, said Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Banaj Kumar Majumder.
The arrestees are-Akhtaruzzaman, Salam, Moniruzzaman Kamrul alias Jaman, Abu Taher Joba and Shafiqul Islam Swapan. At that time, two wooden coins used in the scam, Tk 2.58 lakh in cash and various materials were seized from them. The PBI chief said in a press briefing on Thursday that the arrestees are farmer, cloth traders. But they are very smart and exposed them as big businessman.
The arrestee Joba introduced with the victim businessman one year ago. Joba expressed him as businessman and he random travelled foreign country for business purposes.
Sometimes later of introduces, Joba told the victim that a person name Salam who lives in border area and he has a coin which is very expensive and used in NASA for research. A buyer named Jaman who lived in America and wanted to buy it, he said.
But they need the victims account to transaction such kind of huge amount of money like million dollar. For this reason he got percentage of profit. Then the victim agreed, he further said.
In the meantime Joba contacted with buyer Jaman who have contacted with the people of NASA. So, they all get-together and saw the coin to the victim. At one stage the value of the coin is fixed Tk10 crore.
DIG Banaj said that Jaman immediately gave a cheque of eight and a half crore after all set. After falling into temptation, the victim paid the remaining Tk1.5 crore in cash. After a while, they somehow found out about the fraud and took help to the police.
