Drive against food adulteration: Businessmen hamper drives of mobile court in Barishal city

Agitation of businessmen in Bangla Bazaar area of the city hampered operating drives of mobile court for preventing food adulteration and violation of consumer rights on Tuesday noon.
The businessmen alleged misbehave and harassment of the law enforcers for the agitation and the court claiming misunderstanding said the problem was minimised.
Akram Hossain, President of the local Bazar Committee, said a mobile court led by Farzana Aktar, Administrative Magistrate of District Administration, while operating drives at Banglabazaar area of the city, Assistant Sub Inspector Azmol Hossain of the police team accompanying the court allegedly misbehaved and assaulted businessman Dipu Hossain, owner of Dipu Stores.
Protesting that behavior local businessmen shutting their enterprises started agitation procession cordoning the mobile court officials.
Then to normalize the situation the mobile court forced to leave the area suspending their drive, told Abdus Salam, secretary of the bazaar committee.
Then the leaders of the local businessmen community rushed to the spot minimized the situation and business opened their business enterprises, they told.
Farzana Aktar, administrative magistrate, said there was some misunderstanding between the local businessmen and police which was later minimized.
It would be difficult if the business community instead of extending cooperation, shutting their enterprises hamper normal activities of the court and law enforcers. However drives of mobile court would be continued as per rule and law to restore consumer and citizens rights, the magistrate assured.
