A restaurant businessman Md Jasim Uddin has been abducted from the city’s Abdullahpur area under Turag police station. The abductors under the banner of Sarbahara Party [a banned political outfit] demanded cash of Tk 70 lakh and 20 bharis of gold as ransom from the victim’s family members over cell phone, police said.
Describing the incident father of victim Khalilur Rahmna said, “Jasim went out from the house at Dhaur area under Turag police station at about 9:00 AM on Wednesday. He was going to his restaurant. But hotel manger Towhid informed me that Jasim did not go to his business house till 2:30 PM.”
“We tried to contact Jasim over cell phone, but it was switched off. Later, we filed a case with Turag police station on Tuesday night. Bur after filing the case, we started receiving phone calls from unknown persons demanding ransom money. The abductors demanded Tk 70 lakh cash and 20 bharis of gold as ransom. Otherwise, they threatened to kill Jasim,” he added.
OC of Turag Police Station admitted the incident of abduction and said that they have been conducting raids in different city parts to rescue the kidnapped person.
