Business leaders expressed their concern for increasing the cost of doing business due to traffic jam and misuse of work hours. The recent decision of controlling excel load of vehicles in the highways also increased the number of transport vehicles, which is creating traffic congestion, they observed. Moreover, the business expenditure rose high due to extra vehicles moving in the highways, they added. The business leaders came up with these observations at a meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee relating to Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (City Corporation) held on Saturday at FBCCI Board Room, said a press release.

The discussants, at the meeting emphasized on improvement of city mass transportation service. Leaders of the committee expressed their determination not to use horn in their cars while moving in the city roads. They mentioned that use of new bitumen in the existing roads during thr repair works making the level of roads higher which is a cause of water congestion in the city roads. The business leaders requested for solving the traffic jam situation in the narrow roads of old Dhaka. To prevent the road accidents passengers awareness is also needed besides the drivers, they opined. The meeting also requested the concerned authority to operate the adulteration drive properly.
