Business leaders demand full automation of Customs

The trade body leaders of the port city Chittagong demanded full automation of customs activities in Chittagong aimed at stopping alleged harassment of the officials.
 This was demanded by the stakeholders in Chittagong in the first ever mass hearing arranged by the Chittagong Customs House recently .
CCH sources said fully automated customs activities will be introduced within next two years, said Chittagong Custom House Commissioner AFM Abdullah Khan following the demand of the trade body leaders during the mass hearing held at Chittagong Custom House
AFM Abdullah Khan said, “We will take proper initiative to bring Chittagong Custom House under fully automated system within next two years.” The Custom Commissioner was present at the hearing of the complaints of the trade body leaders and representatives at the mass hearing. He also ensured the trade body leaders for solving all problems step by step that are prevailing now in the custom house.
The trade body leaders placed several recommendations for making the Chittagong Custom House modern and effective one.
They also demanded to make the house fully automated for reducing the harassment of businessmen during export and import. Director of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Mahafujul Haque Shah demanded to increase the manpower at Chittagong Custom House.
Expressing gratitude for arranging the mass hearing at Chittagong Custom House they also urged to arrange such types of function in every two months if possible . , sources said
