Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a bus helper with 24 kilograms of ganja from City Gate area early Monday.
The arrestee Abdus Samad, 22, hailed from Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar.
Police signalled a passenger bus of S Alam service to stop at the check post but the bus driver fled away leaving behind the bus, said Anwar Hossain, Assistant Commissioner of DB, CMP.
Later, police recovered 24 kilograms of ganja after searching the luggage box of the bus and held the bus helper Samad.
Samad in primary interrogation confessed that the bus driver in connivance with drug traders often smuggle drugs from Dhaka.
A case was filed against the bus driver and the helper in this connection.
