Bus communication of Dhaka with 11 northern districts resumed on Wednesday after 12 hours.
The decision has been taken in an emergency meeting of the transport leaders and workers on Wednesday afternoon, Aminul Islam Mondol, Managing Director of Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan, told The New Nation on Wednesday evening.
The strike causing huge sufferings among the commuters, mainly patients
and children, in Rangpur, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Gaibandah, Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Noagaon, Joypurhat and Bogra in north Bengal, he said.
After resuming the plying of buses likely to intensify the traffic congestion on the route, according to him.
Earlier, the strike was enforced following a dispute between Rajshahi Bus-Truck Owners’ and Workers’ Oikya Parishad and Bangladesh Road Transport Workers’ Federation.
Bogra Motor Owners Group convenor Manjurul Alam Mohan called the strike after an emergency meeting on Tuesday night.
Dhaka’s bus communication with eight districts of Rangpur Division and Bogra, Joypurhat and Naogaon remained suspended since Wednesday morning.
Rajshahi Bus Truck Owners’ and Workers’ Oikya Parishad president Abdul Latif said, the buses of Bogra owners’ remained stranded at Gabtoli and Mohakhali in the capital for last few days following a dispute between Naogaon Bus Sramik Association and Bogra Motor Owners’ Group.
Although they settled the matter on Monday, the bus counters of Bogra bus owners in Dhaka remained closed.
