A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) has arrested five members of a burglary team on the charge of theft at a house after cutting the grill.
They were arrested from Dhaka’s different areas on Friday. The arrested are Morshed alias Haddi Morshed, Zahid Sheikh, Arman Hossain, Kabir Hossain Mona and Rasel.
At that time, a foreign revolver, 50 rounds of ammunition, gold ornaments, and looted gold sell money worth Tk18 lakh and grill cutting equipment, choppers, knives and wrenches used in the robbery were recovered from their possession.
DB’s Additional Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akhtar confirmed the matter in a press briefing in DMP’s Media Center on Saturday.
He said that two Burglary incidents took place after cutting the house grill behind the Bishal center on October 20 and Mirerbagh area of Dhaka on December 8.
In that incident, the licensed foreign revolvers, 50 rounds of bullets, gold ornaments and money were looted. Two separate cases were filed with Hatirjheel police station over the incident, he said.
Later, they also started the investigation beside the police and on the basis of intelligence they conducted raid and arrested five members of the gang, he further said.
Hafiz Akhtar said that the arrested are all professional robberyies. Seeing the opportunity, they cut the grill and entered the house and robbed all valuables by bounding the house member hands and leg.
There are several cases against them in different police stations, he said.
