Burglars looted valuables including gold ornaments around 65 tolas, cash Tk 2.55 lakh and two laptops from a flat in the city’s Hazaribagh on Wednesday.
Muzammel Hossain, a rich trader and also owner of the flat told UNB that he along with his wife and two sons had been living in the flat on the second floor of a 5-storey building at Nilambar Shaha Road of Hazaribagh near HazaribaghPark.
He went to his rice Arat at Babu Bazar in the morning and his wife along with the two kids also went to visit one of her relative’s house after locking the main door of the flat at around 10:00 am, Muzammel said.
When he returned to his flat at around 5:30 pm, he found the lock of his main door was broken. Other cabinets were also broken inside the flat and valuables including gold ornaments, cash money and the two laptops were missing.
Contacted, Sub-Inspector Samiul Haque of Hazaribagh police station said the incident might have taken place some times after 10:30 am. Senior police officers visited the spot, he added.
