Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized a seminar on the occasion of “World Population Day”. Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) arranged the seminar at Bijoy Auditorium of its campus in the city’s Mirpur Cantonment on Sunday.
Health Minister Mohammed Nasim, MP was the Chief Guest in the seminar while Vice Chancellor of BUP Major General Md Salahuddin Miaji, rcds, psc and Iori Kato, Representative, UNFPA Bangladesh were present as special guests. Dr. Ubaidur Rob, Country Director, Population Council, Bangladesh presented the keynote paper. Brigadier General Ridwan-Al-Mahmood, ndc, afwc, psc, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) moderated the program.
On the occasion the minister said, this year’s theme is “Family Planning: Empowering People, Developing Nations.” Access to safe, voluntary family planning is a human right. It is also central to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and is a key factor in reducing poverty.
The speakers said in the seminar World Population Day is an international level awareness campaign being celebrated all over the world to call people on stage to know the reason of this exploding population every year. Through this awareness, people are encouraged to take part to know about family planning, poverty, right to health, education, maternal and baby health and so on for creating better world.
Moreover, there were also present Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUP Prof M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD, BUP high officials, teachers, officers and students.
