Buoyant investors boost stocks

Turnover at the Dhaka bourse rose around 30 per cent on Thursday from the previous day thanks to the increased participation of buoyant investors.
The important indicator of the stock exchange rose 29.43 per cent to Tk 1,506 crore, which was Tk 1,163 crore a day earlier.
Investors are quite optimistic about the market index, so they are increasing their participation in the market, according to market analysts.
Amid ups and down around the day, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the DSEX, rose 13 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 6,995.
At the DSE, stocks of 115 companies rose, 208 declined and 50 remained unchanged.
Brac Bank topped the gainers’ list that rose 9.93 per cent followed by Sena Kalyan Insurance, Shinepukur Ceramics, Genex Infosys, and Coppertech Industries.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 342 crore changing hands followed by Genex Infosys, Orion Pharmaceuticals, IFIC Bank, and NRB Commercial Bank.
Alif Industries shed mostly that dropped 13.8 per cent followed by Golden Son, Hamid Fabrics, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning, and Investment Corporation of Bangaldesh.
The country’s other share market, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also rose on Thursday.
The CASPI, the main index of the CSE, increased 63 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 20,497.
Among 292 traded stocks, 106 advanced, 146 fell and 40 remained the same.
