Farmers of Jalalabad union Sadar upazila in the district are expecting a bumper production of BARI Musur-6 this year.
Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) to invested this high productive musur BARI -6 which marked a sharp rise over last two years among the farmers in this region.
Ramij Bapari (50) cultivator of village Chhotfa under Jalalabad union of Sadar Upazila in Gopalganj told The F.E. BARI musur-6 he cultivated on two local bighas (104 decimal) of land this season where expend of taka 10,400 is more profitable and I hope I will got 6 mounds of Musur from my produce of land. Which market price is Tk. about 30,000.
Less pest attack, small investment a farmers can achieve a big monitorial benefit from the BARI Musur-6 farming, Ramij said during visit his field.
Some farmers of Jalalabad said, BARI Musur-6 is more profitable crop for farmers in this region because it does not need more fertilizers & insecticides but return is big, they added.
According to Department of Agriculture Extension Department (DAE), Gopalganj officials said, a total of 4,500 hectares of land have been brought under BARI Musur-6 cultivation and production target 5,000 metric tonnes (MT). Of them 1805 hectares of land have been brought under Sadar Upazila where 50 hectares in Jalalabad union, sources said.
Md. Moazzyam Hossain, Crop Production Specialist (CPS), Gopalganj told this correspondent that BARI Musur-6 is more profitable comparatively any other crops and less expenses of cost and production is excess for that farmers in this region expected BARI Musur-6.
