Farmers of Jalalabad Union under Sadar Upazila in the district are expecting a bumper production of Tory Mustard-7 this current Rabi season in Gopalganj.
Alimuzzaman Molla (45), a farmer of village Borfa under Jalalabad Union of Sadar Upazila told The New Nation I cultivated Tory Mustered-7 on local one bigha of land (52 decimal) where spending about taka 3,200 but I will got about 7 maunds of Mustered from its produce which market price taka 15,000 if the weather condition is remain unchanged. One stage Alim said, Tory Mustered-7 its farming need a small investment but farmer can harvesting in a short duration & return is big. So that the crop is more profitable comparatively any others Rabi crops, Alimuzzaman said.
Sarifur Rahman Tamim (38), a farmer of village Tetulia under Jalalabad union of Sadar Upazila in the district said, he cultivated Tory Mustered-7 on 26 decimal of land this current year and its growth condition is good but I will got about 4 maunds of mustered from its produce which market price is taka 8,000 where spend taka only 1,500, Tamim said during visit his field.
Miraj Molla (55) another farmer of village Charghaga under same union told The New Nation. about 110 hector of land have been farming Tory Mustered-7 under this union this current Rabi season and its cultivation increasing day by day in this area because farmers are getting more benefit from its produce one stage Miraj said, he cultivated Tory Mustered-7 on 40 decimal of land this current Rabi season. If the weather condition is remain favourable but I will got 5.50 maunds of Mustered from it produce which market price is taka 11,000 where investment is 2,100, Miraj added.
Nityananda Gain, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer (SAAO), Jalalabad Union of Sadar Upazila told the New Nation. farmers in this reason have been cultivating Tory Mustered-7 a high yielding variety from recent year because farmers getting more benefit from its produce in a short duration besides small investment, he added.
According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Gopalganj officials sources said a total of 2,776 hectors of land have been brought under Tory Mustered-7 cultivation this current season and it probable production target at 4,164 metric tonnes (MT), sources said. Official reports said, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila 1,075 hectors, Muksudpur Upazila 865 hectors, Kasiani Upazila 610, Kotalipara Upazila 205 & Tungipara Upazila 21 hectors of land in the district have taken Tory Mustered-7 farming this current year.
Ramesh Chandra Bramha, Deputy Director (DD), Agriculture, Gopalganj told The New Nation. farmers in this region is more energetic and Tory Mustered-7 is more profitable crop for the farmers in our country & farmers can harvest this crop around only 80 to 90 days. Where expending cost is below but remain is big, as a result farmers in this region got more profit from it produce, DD added.
