Bumper mustard production expected in Panchagarh

Farmers of the district are expecting a bumper mustard production in the current season as the favorable weather was prevailing in the district.
Good yield of the winter crop and its fair price during the last several years, farmers of all five upazilas of the district are spreading the areas of mustard cultivation.
Easy cultivation and harvesting process and lower production cost is also a reason behind the popularity of mustard cultivation in the district, the sources said.
Farmers cultivated mustard on 16,039 hectares of land in the district this year with the production target of 18,055 tonnes of mustard, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official said.
The Mustard growers were now seen rendering their field-level service round the clock for sowing Mustard seeds on their farm lands.
Deputy Director of DAE M Asraf Ali said five varieties of mustard— BARI-9, BINA-5, BINA-8, BARI-15, BARI-14 —are being cultivated in the district during the current season.
