The booming mango flowering predicts an excellent production of the most popular fruit in the region this year if climatic conditions remained favourable, experts and scientists said.
Horticulturist Monzurul Alam said that the prevailing climatic conditions are suitable for mango flowering and budding and thousands of mango trees have already worn eye-catching looks with huge blooms.
Terming this year as an ‘On Year’ for mango, the scientists, experts and officials at the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and other agriculture related departments, organizations, and agronomists predict a better mango output in the coming harvesting time.
They said that over 85 percent mango trees have already massively bloomed and the process still continues amid suitable climatic conditions.
The farmers have already started taking extensive preparations, cares and measures to make mango farming successful this year in their orchards, homesteads and everywhere, deputy director of the DAE Hazrat Ali said.
He suggested the farmers to contact with the agriculture officers at the field levels and control the attacks by hoppers and some other pests’ attacks on the mango flowers, if any, for better mango formations and productions.
Hazrat Ali said the farmers have been caring and taking measures to make mango farming successful everywhere.

After witnessing the present condition both the growers and the officials are very optimistic about an expected yield of the seasonal fruit.
Dr Alim Uddin, senior scientific officer at the Rajshahi Fruit Research Center, hoped for a bumper mango production following massive blooms if the climatic conditions, fluctuations in temperatures, rainfalls, attack by pests and insects remain normal for the next few months.
If the seasonal nor’westers remains within a tolerable limit, there is a huge possibility of achieving a record bumper production of all varieties mango this season, the experts predicted.
According to the DAE sources, there are about 30 lakh mango trees of different ages and varieties on some 32,816 hectares in the region with creation of many mango orchards and increased mango farming in the homesteads in recent years.
Dr Alim Uddin said that the farmers have been showing more interest in mango farming in recent years to increase its productions and earn huge profits.
He said that many varieties including the sweetest ones like Gopalbhog, Lengra, Fazlee, Nakfazlee, Khirsapati, Mohanbhog, Chyatapori, Haribhanga and Lakhna are being cultivated in the region.
