Bumper jute output likely in Dupchanchia

Bumper jute output is expected in Dupchanchia Upazila in Bogura distrct this season. Farmers are expecting bumper output due to favourable weather condition as well as smooth care at the jute field across the region.
According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources along with farmers the authority concern are also making a desire to grow clean output of the crops.
The farmers of Gunaher, Gobindapur, Chapmul, Zianagar, Talora and sadar union of Dupchanchia upazila have sowed the high yield jute variety seeds after cultivating the land well in last March.
The farming is expanding gradually across the upazila from last couple of decade. To make the farming grand success, the authority concern has provided all sort of necessary agri-input.
The mild sapling of the crops is growing well as the peasants have ensured measured caring defying adverse weather condition and the farmers are seen happy seeing the dancing condition of the crops.
To grow jute in a commercial basis, the farmers have been provided logistic support along with quality seeds, measure fertiliser, said upazila agriculture officer Golam Mostafa. He urges to increase use of jute made product like sacks, bag and yarn in our daily life.
“I have cultivated tosha variety of jute on 22 decimal of land spending Tk 2800,” said farmer Samsul Alom under Talora union. He again said, “I am expecting to grow over 14 maunds of yield.”
In a recent visit at Gunaher village under the upazila the correspondent found the farmers are separating weeds from the jute field with hoe and giving fertiliser. Some are watering in the crop land with donga.
High official of DEA said, farmers are to spend Tk only 8000 to 10000 to grow jute on a bigha of land. The farmers can make over Tk 18 to 19 thousand paying production cost, DAE adde .
