Bumper Boro production in Faridpur

Farmers in the district have achieved a bumper production of Boro paddy in the current season as the harvesting just concluded.
According to District Agriculture Extension office sources, the crop, in various varieties, was cultivated on 36788 hectares as against the target of 36701 hectares this season. About 175154 metric tons of clean Boro rice is expected to be produced with an average per acre yield of 4.76 tones.
According to the source, the paddy was cultivated on 6444 hectares in Faridpur Sadar upazila, 1437 hectares in Char Bhadrasan upazila, 4434 hectares in Nagarkanda upazila, 3043 hectares in Saltha upazila, 3716 hectares in Sadarpur upazila, 5406 hectares in Bhanga upazila, 3305 hectares in Madhukhali upazila, 6001 hectares in Boalmari upazila and 3002 hectares in Alfadanga upazila.
The source said that 170121 metric tones of Boro was produced last season by cultivating 39841 hectares of land with a per acre yield of 4.27 tones clean rice.
Per acre yield is slightly higher this season due to a favorable climatic condition, availability of agricultural inputs and satisfactory electricity supply.
