Bumper Boro production expected in Manikganj

Farmers of the district are expecting a bumper production of Boro as they are getting maximum output of the paddy in most of the areas during this current season.
Department of Agriculture Extension office sources said farmers cultivated Boro on 47,500 hectares of land in the district.
Of the total land 8,989 hectares in Sadar upazila, 9,310 hectares in Singair, 5,231 hectares in Saturia, 6,510 hectares in Ghior,7,081 hectares in Daulatpur, 6,844 hectares in Shibalaya and 3,535 hectares in Harirampur upazil.
Besides, a vast area of the dried river beds was brought under local boro cultivation. The Boro plants have already started flowering eye catching looks everywhere. The enthusiastic farmers hope that the prevailing climate conditions would help bumper Boro yields this year.
Deputy Director of DAE Alimuzzaman Miah said the farmers were given necessary training on using of right quantity fertilizers, insecticides and other inputs in the boro field.
He said the local DAE office provided the farmers with logistic support including fertilizers and necessary agriculture imputes.
The farmers started harvesting of the local variety of paddy in most of the char areas of the district.
