Bullish trend continues on stock markets

Stocks continued to witness bullish trend on Wednesday for the nine consecutive sessions despite fall in daily transaction.
DSEX, the major price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), added 18.87 points at close to finish the day at 5,156.60 which was the highest after October 30, 2014 when it closed at 5,173.23.
Like previous session, the DS30 and the DSES also finished the session in green, but with marginal rise. The two indices finished at 1,855.93 and 1218.47 respectively.
The daily trade value declined to Taka 1,209.11 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 1,391.09 crore and the volume decreased to 38.93 crore shares from 41.13 crore shares of the fourth session of the week.
Out of the day’s 327 issues, 145 closed higher against 146 losing securities. The day’s major gainers were Aragon Denims, Agni System Limited, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Gemini Sea Food and Envoy Textile. The most losing securities included Meghna PTI, Zeal Bangla Sugar Mills, Meghna Condensed Milk, Shympur Sugar and Dulamia Cotton.
Aragon Denims topped the turnover list followed by Beximco Limited, Bangladesh Building Systems, GPH Isphat, Desco Limited and Ifad Autos.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its CASPI index ending 20.10 points up at 15847.33.
Out of the 259 issues traded on the CSE, 110 closed higher against 127 losing securities when 2.63 crore shares changed hands for Taka 73.14 crore.
