UNB, Noakhali :
A local Jubo League leader, who suffered bullet injuries during a clash in Hatiya upazila on March 30, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday.
The victim, Ashraf Uddin, 43, a resident of Char King in the upazila, succumbed to his injuries at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the DMCH
around 5pm, said Ashraf’s elder brother Mohiuddin.
Ashraf was shot with bullets during the clash between two groups over the rice distribution of ‘Food-Friendly Programme’ at Asadia Bazar of Hatiya upazila on March 30, he said.
He was taken to the Square Hospital in Dhaka a day after the incident and later shifted to the DMCH where he died on Sunday afternoon, Mohiuddin added. Outraged by the death, supporters of slain Ashraf torched two houses of the rival group at Asadia Bazar and vandalized a house at Uskhali in the upazila headquarters.
They also set a trawler on fire at Nalchhira Ghat in the evening, locals said.
