Girl stabbing: Bullet-hit accused Litu held in Jhenaidah

The police in Jhenaidah arrested accused Litu Hossain from Jhenaidah village early Wednesday on charge of stabbing a school girl Puja. The accused received bullet injuries when he tried to resist attempt to arrest and was rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.
Spokesman of Jhenaidah police Additional Superintendent Azbahar Ali Sheikh said, the police conducted a drive to arrest Litu Hossain from Gobilapara area of Nrishinghapur village in Jhenaidah Sadar.
At about 4.00 am, when the police reached there, Litu threw three bombs targeting the policemen, who retaliated with fire. As a result, Litu received injuries. And he was taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Litu Hossain, son of late Altaf Hossain from Hogaldanga village of Sripur upazila in Magura has been staying at his brother-in-law’s house for studies.
He stabbed a Class IX student identified as Puja Majumder at Jhenaidah Upashaharpara in the evening of Sunday on the roof top of her house when she rejected his unwanted marriage proposal.
Later Puja’s father Bipul Majumder filed a case with Jhenaidah police accusing Litu as the main accused, the police said.
