The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry Thursday recommended following any world standard port instead of Chittagong and Mongla ports in building Paira seaport.
The recommendation was made at the 17th meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its member M Abdul Hai presiding.
Committee members Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, M Habibur Rahman, M Abdul Latif, M Anwarul Azim and Mamtaz Begum Advocate attended the meeting, said an official release.
The meeting decided that the standing committee on shipping ministry will hold a meeting with the standing committee on planning ministry over the development of Paira seaport. Senior officials concerns were present at the meeting.
