The Detective Branch (DB) of police have questioned BUET Associate Professor Farseem Mannan Mohammedy for three hours over the murder of writer-blogger Avijit Roy.
He was grilled for nearly three hours at the DB headquarters at Dhaka’s Minto Road on Tuesday.
“We wanted to know whether he had any personal dispute with Avijit regarding his writings or opinion,” DB Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam told bdnews24.com.
Avijit was hacked to death near Dhaka University’s Teacher-Student Centre on Feb 26
during Amar Ekushey Book Fair. His wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya was critically injured in the incident.
Avijit’s father, former Dhaka University teacher, Prof Ajay Roy said he found Mohammedy’s role questionable as Avijit and Bonya went to a meeting organized by him on the day of the incident.
DB’s Islam said they interrogated Mohammedy to know who were in the meeting, who skipped it and why.
