Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Abrar Fahad murder case verdict will be delivered today.
Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman of Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka will deliver the verdict in the sensational murder case. Earlier on November 14, the same tribunal set November 28 to deliver the judgement after the prosecution and defence lawyers concluded their arguments in the much-talked about case. But, on November 28, the judge deferred the verdict citing that there was not ample time to prepare the verdict after analysing the arguments put forwarded by the prosecution and defence lawyers.
“It will take more time to prepare the verdict,” he said while fixing the new date for delivering the verdict.
Earlier in the day, 22, of 25 accused were produced before the tribunal.
On October 24, Chief Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol pleaded to the tribunal to award capital punishment of death penalty for 25 including three absconding accused.
On the other hand, the defence lawyers told the court that the prosecution failed to prove the charges against the accused and sought acquittal for their clients.
Twenty-two of the accused – now in jail – were produced before the tribunal during the hearing on the day.
A total 46, out of 60 prosecution witnesses, testified in the sensational case.
