Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) team became champion and Jahangirnagar University IBA team became Runner up in ‘DIUDC Bitorko Mohaparbon-1426’. Daffodil International University Debating Club (DIUDC) and Somprity project of Manusher Jonno Foundation jointly organized this debate championship among the debaters of adjacent 6 districts of the capital including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshigonje, Gazipur, Narsingdhi and Manikgonj on Saturday.
Iftu, student of BUET became best debater of the competition. Besides, Manikganje Govt College became champion in regional round and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Barishal became runner up. Ritu, student of Manikganje Govt College became best debater in regional round. On the other hand, East West University became champion in Fresher’s Team category and Lalmatia Women’s College became runner up. Riddhi, student of East West University became best debater in fresher’s category.
Country’s renowned artist Mustafa Monowar and novelist Imdadul Haq Milan were present as the chief guest and special guest respectively at the closing and prize giving ceremony of the ‘DIUDC Bitorko Mohaparbon-1426 held at 71 Milonayoton of the university and distributed prizes among the winners.
The program also addressed by Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, DIU, Prof Dr Farhana Helal Mehtab, Moderator of DIUDC and Associate Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Ziaul Haque Sumon, President, DIU Alumni Association Rezwan Rahman and Shahjadi, Project Coordinator of Manusher Jonno Foundation, Al Mukitul Bari, President of DIUDC and Omar Faruq Shimanto, General Secretary of DIUDC.
The competition was started around six month ago among the debaters with the theme of “Mutual tolerance and bond of Harmony with conducting workshop and grooming session for the fresher’s.
Artist Mustafa Monowar said dismemberment is increasing in the society day by day. Basically religious dismemberment is increased with alarming rate. It’s not acceptable. He urged the young students to be more interested in debate.
Novelist Imdadul Haq Milan said that debate is an art. Most of the biggest achievement of Bangladesh has been come from young generation.
