The BNP has expressed concern over the proposed budget for the fiscal 2015-16, saying that the big expenditure budget is like a Zamidar’s budget.
“The government has given such big budget proposal, as they think the country as their landlords. It has estimated the income budget to accommodate its big expenditures. The money of the big expenditures will come from where? We are concerned over the big and unrealistic budget,” said BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah.
He made the instant comment just after placing the proposed budget in the Parliament on Thursday. The budget reflects the government Zamidari mentality, he said.
In his immediate budget reaction, the party’s another standing committee member Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman said that the budget won’t bring any good result for the people, as it has the lack of balance between the income and the expenditure. It is a matter of serious concern that the government would implement the budget with foreign aid and debt from banks. Such big budget is not expectable, he added.
Former commerce minister and BNP Chairperson’s adviser Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury termed the proposed budget as unrealistic and burden for the people. He said that there is nothing good for people in the budget.
He observed that the price of essential commodities would hike following the national budget. The common people will be affected, as the budget has been proposed for the rich men, he said.
Meanwhile, BNP’s spokesperson and the party’s international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon in his reaction said that the present government is unelected and this Parliament is illegal. So the illegal and unelected government has no right to place any budget, he added.
