Budget proposals by Mar 10 invited

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has started budget preparations for the next fiscal year (2016-17) beginning from July 1.
As part of the task, the NBR on Sunday urged all chamber bodies and trade associations to submit their respective written budget proposals to the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) by March 10.
It also requested the chambers and trade associations to send the softcopies of their proposals through email.
Organisations or trade offices that are not members of any chamber or trade association can also send their proposals.
“The government has started work on formulating a balance national budget for the fiscal year 2016-2017. And as part of the task, budget proposals were sought from the country’s leading trade bodies,” Md Akbar Hossain, First Secretary of NBR and Chief Budget Coordinator, told The New Nation on Sunday.
He said, the proposals received by the NBR, will be considered with due importance. With support from all concerned, the NBR will formulate a ‘participatory, pro-people, business-friendly and revenue potential budget for the upcoming fiscal, he said.
 “We will hold talks with various stakeholders, such as trade bodies, professional bodies, research organisations and intellectuals and invite budget proposals from them,” he added.
