Like the previous years, the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday launched a budget help desk to assist the lawmakers with information to take part in discussions on the budget of 2018-19 fiscal year scheduled to be unveiled tomorrow.
With the cooperation of Budget Analysis and Monitoring Unit (BAMU), the Parliament Secretariat set up the desk at the third level of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban, said a JS release.
JS Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury formally inaugurated the desk at a function. Speaking on the occasion, the speaker said, “The budget help desk will play an important role in making budget discussions (by lawmakers) informative, constructive and lively”.
The lawmakers can collect necessary information from the help desk before delivering speeches in parliament, she said, adding that informative and valuable speech of the lawmakers on the budget will play a vital role in the welfare of the country and its people.
JS Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah, Chief Whip ASM Feroz, Whips Md Atiur Rahman Atik, Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker and Md Shahab Uddin, lawmakers Badruddoza Md Farhad Hossain and Wasika Ayesha Khan and Parliament Secretariat Senior Secretary Dr Md Abdur Rob Howlader were present in the function, among others.
