Chittagong Bureau :

Bangladesh Buddhist Foundation in a statement recently protested the attack and threat on a Buddhist family by the miscreants and demanded security of victim family from the government.
The degradation of socio-religious harmony can be noticed at every corner of the country. Buddhist are not safe in the midst of fanatic religious environment in Bangladesh. A family of Buddhist community of Shilghata Village under Satkania is passing days in fear over attack of local miscreants over the land properties.
Recently, a Buddhist family of Sanga Dash Barua of the same village have been harassed many times just for simple reason of land property dispute with the neighbours. Biplob Barua, the eldest son of Sanga Dash Barua, was attacked by a group of miscreants at No 2 Gate area in Chittagong city recently.
A GD was also lodged at Panchlaish Police Station by Biplob Barua in Chittagong (GD No.684, date-12-06-14) in this connection.
His family members alleged that some unidentified miscreants attacked Biplob Barua on June 10 when he returned home after finishing his brother’s treatment at Chittagong Medical College at about 5.30 pm. When he shouted the passers-by came forward and the miscreants fled away threatening him not to file any case. If they try to file any case they will be killed, he added.
Following the incident, the family members Suman Sraman Barua, Biplob Barua and Topu Barua of Mr. Sanga Dash Barua have been facing lack of security and passing their days in anxiety and fear.
