BU declares Ramzan-Eid vacation from July 13 to face students’ movement

Barisal University has declared Ramadan-Eid vacation from July 13 instead of July 22 to face movement against case and expulsion of students.
As July 11 and 12 would be the weekly government holiday, so virtually the BU would be closed from July 10 afternoons, BU sources said.
Manirul Islam, BU acting register, said a meeting headed by Prof.Dr. Harunor Rashid Khan, vice chancellor with the chairmen of the 16 departments of BU, approved the decision on Thursday July 3 afternoon.
Now the pre-vacation classes of BU would be ended on Thursday July 10 and officially Ramadan-Eid vacations would be started from July 13 and will continue till August 3, the BU acting register told.
Prof. Shafiul Alam, president of BU teacher’s association, said as the students continued boycotting most of the classes and exams under a tensed situation, so chairman of different departments holding meeting on Wednesday afternoon suggested vice chancellor to start Eid and Ramadan vacation from July 6 Sunday.
This suggestion was conveyed to vice chancellor of the university over mobile phone as he was staying outside the station at that time, the teacher’s association president added.
