BTV’s golden jubilee programme today

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said the government is planning to restructure Bangladesh Television (BTV) afresh.
He said this in reply to a question in a press conference at Rampura Television Bhaban auditorium in the city marking the golden jubilee of state-run BTV, the first Bengali language television in the world.
Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed, eminent artist Mustafa Manowar, noted cultural personality Hassan Imam and globally reputed drama personality Ramendu Majumder also spoke on the occasion.
BTV Director General Abdul Mannan highlighted programmes to be
observed marking the golden jubilee. BTV Deputy Director General (programme) Bahar Uddin Khelon, Deputy Director General (news) Shahida Alam and other senior officials were present.
The press conference was told that the BTV will step into 51 years today. The BTV started its broadcast on March 25 in 1964.
A seven-day programme has been drawn marking the golden jubilee. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the programme in the BTV premises at 3 pm today.
Replying to a question from journalists, the information minister said the BTV would start its journey afresh from January 2015. It will remain transparent and meet the expectations of the mass people, he added.
