Chattogram Centre of Bangladesh Television (BTV) turned into 25 years after two decades of telecasting independently. The popularity of this centre has increased through the promotion of various programmes including news, concerts, entertainment programs and talk shows.
BTV’s Chattogram Centre is playing an impeccable role in all fields including politics, culture and development of the country and will continue to do so in the future, the Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said. After its inauguration in 1996, BTV’s Chattogram Centre started its journey by broadcasting a short one and a half hour programme. After a long journey, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated 8-hour satellite broadcasting programmes through video conference from Ganobhaban on 31 December 2017.
The broadcasting time of the centre was increased from 8 hours to 9 hours on 13 April 2019 and the broadcasting time of this centre was now increased to 12 hours on 26 January this year. The broadcast time of the centre is expected to increase to 18 hours soon. Besides, from July 1, 2019, the broadcasting activities of CTV Centre are being conducted abroad through Bangabandhu-1 satellite. As the work of the tower has already been completed, BTV’s Chattogram Centre will be seen as terrestrial all over the country like Dhaka.
