BTRC requests FB-TikTak to remove objectionable contents

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) has requested the Facebook and TikTak authorities to remove the objectionable contents from their virtual sites.
BTRC Vice-Chairman Subrata Roy Maitra said this in a webinar on Saturday.
The webinar was organized by the Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) on ‘Misuse of Information and Communication Technology titled ”what to do to Prevent Women and Children Trafficking.
Speakers at the event said that Likee and Tiktak requires very little setup and knowledge. So, children from poorly educated and low-income group of families can easily enter the world of cyber entertainment. In addition, the reporting system of Tiktak does not show pornography separately. As result, they can upload anything run wild. In his speech, the Vice-Chairman of BTRC said that BTRC cannot shut down TickTock and Facebook even it wants.
We have to raise the awareness of everyone in the society about this.
That is why we are thinking of holding a workshop with parents in the context of parental guides. It is because parents do not consider the issue of parental guides when connecting the internet line.
At that time, Subrata Roy Maitra said that BTRC is going to launch National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR) very soon. By it, the identity of the mobile set user can be understood easily and that one cannot use another’s set or SIM.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tejgaon Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Shahidullah also addressed the webinar as a special guest.
