BTMA sees huge business opportunity

Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition kicks off

A four-day long ’13th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition’ started on Thursday at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre(BICC) in the city with a view to promoting the manufacturing sector.
Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Chan Chao International, and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service jointly orgainsed the exhibition.
More than 1,000 textile equipment manufacturers from 34 countries, including Bangladesh, will display a variety of state-of-the-art textile and garment technologies and machinery, according to the organizer.
Exhibitors are showcasing the latest in textiles and apparel technology through 1,160 booths to spinners, weavers and knitters, said Judy Wang, an executive director of Chan Chao International Company.
Global brands such as Barudan, Jakob Muller, Karl Mayer, Loepfe Graf, Lonati, Oerlikon, Pai Lung, Picanol, Rieter, Santoni, LMW, Shima Seiki, Thies, Truetzschler and Zimmer are displaying and selling their products.
The participating countries include Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, the USA, France, Germany, India, Pakistan and Vietnam.
The fair is open to visitors from 12pm to 8pm tomorrow and from 12pm to 7:30pm till Monday.
In the 2015 edition of the fair, more than 900 exhibitors from 32 countries exhibited. The show witnessed 30,000 visitors thronging the stalls exhibiting the latest developments. Last year, exhibitors sold machinery worth $220 million at the fair. The event also reportedly generated US $ 200 million worth of onsite order bookings for companies participating at DTG 2015.
Leaders of the Bangladesh Textiles Mills Association (BTMA) expected huge business opportunities from the exhibition. According to BTMA, the exhibition is an ideal platform to demonstrate new products and technologies and network with manufacturers, traders and buyers and exploit business opportunities.
