As the industries ministry has planned to set up office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in every district, industries secretary Mohammad Abdullah has asked officials concerned to send a standard setup of manpower to the ministry by February next year.
“BSTI will have to set up its office in every district to ensure standard products and services for the people,” he told a review meeting of the implementation progress of the ministry’s part of the Annual Development Programme (ADB) for the current fiscal year (FY18) on Tuesday.
The meeting was informed that under the industries ministry there are 43 development projects investing an estimated cost of Tk 1,376.78 crore and of the total projects, 39 are investment, 3 technical and one will be implemented with the own finance of the ministry.
Of the total Tk 1,376.78 crore, the government will provide Tk 1,320.38 crore, Tk 6.40 crore will come as project assistance while Tk 50 crore from the organization’s own fund.
The industries secretary asked the project directors to be more active to ensure timely implementation of their projects and suggested holding meeting of the steering committee frequently to solve project related problems for quick implementation.
He warned that punitive steps will be taken against the officials concerned if implementation of projects is delayed because of negligence in responsibility.
