The regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institutions (BSTI) has expedited drives against selling of substandard and adulterated foods and other consumers items and fined owner of a bakery Taka 50,000 in the metropolis yesterday.
According to the officials concerned, the BSTI in cooperation with the district administration conducted mobile court in different areas of the city.
The court led by Executive Magistrate Parveen Sultana lodged a case against owner of Messers Bengal Bakery at BSCIC Industrial Estate on charges of manufacturing, possessing and selling of substandard, unhygienic and date expired items together with violation of BSTI rules and regulations.
The court realised Taka 50,000 from the shop owner as fined money and disposed of the case on the spot. It has also destroyed huge seized goods.
