Journalists and employees of the state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) have been urged to remain aware of spreading rumors through any platform and inform the authorities concerned if they get any information regarding spreading rumors.
BSS Managing Editor Anisur Rahman made the call when he was presiding over a meeting on ‘rumor prevention’ at the BSS Boardroom on Sunday.”Rumour never carries positive messages. A vested quarter always tries to create instability in the country by spreading rumors,” he said.
Rahman also asked the BSS employees to follow necessary instructions in order to prevent any kind of rumor instead of paying attention to it, saying “rumor can harm even personal and social life of an individual”.
Referring to various rumors spread out in recent times, the BSS managing editor said many rumors were spread out centering coronavirus and still rumors are being spread out against the government.
“Therefore, all should remain alert about rumors and disseminate any information after checking facts,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, BSS journalists and employees emphasized on checking facts before sharing any information individually or through social media and said flow of authentic information can ensure social and state peace.
