BSS Bill 2018 passes in JS

The Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Bill, 2018 was passed on Sunday in the parliament with a view to bring the organization into a legal frame.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu moved the bill in the House which was unanimously passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
Piloting the bill, the Information Minister said the proposed bill will replace the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Ordinance, 1979.
As per the proposed bill, the headquarters of the organization will be established in Dhaka and its branch offices will be set up anywhere of the country, if necessary, with prior government permission.
The organization will have a mandate to undertake programme for overall development and modernization of the agency under the proposed law.
