BSS and SPA to exchange news

National news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Saudi Press Agency (SPA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreeing to exchange news, generated by the two state-run news agencies with an aim to strengthen further the brotherly ties between Dhaka and Riyadh.

Abdullah Bin Fahad Al- Hussien on Wednesday inked the deal on their respective sides at the SPA headquarters in the Saudi capital.Information Secretary Abdul Malek witnessed the signing as he led the three-member Bangladesh delegation, which is visiting the kingdom on the occasion of inking the BSS-SPA cooperation deal.
Information Ministry Joint Secretary S M Mahfuzul Haque, Deputy Chief of Mission of Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arbia Dr Mohammad Nazrul Islam and First Secretary (Press) Md Fakhrul Islam were also present on the occasion. Under the deal BSS and SPA will exchange photographs as well along with news and features to be used by both the services while there would be no financial obligation on the part of either of the news agencies in exchanging the services.
Besides, each agency will cooperate to provide facilities and assistance to the other agency’s reporters and representatives. BSS exchanges news service with different major news agencies across the globe including Agence France-Presse (AFP), Russia’s TASS, China’s Xinhua and Press Trust of India (PTI).
