Bangladesh Steel and Re-Rolling Mills (BSRM) Limited for the first time today donated Taka 2,03,50,000 to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation (BLWF) for the welfare of the labour community. Chief of the Human Resources Division (HRD) of the company Jamil Ahmed donated the money by handing over a cheque for the above amount to the State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mujibul Haque at his secretariat office.
The company as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) donated the money which is 0.50 percent of their total annual income. A total of 118 local multi-national companies so far donated Taka 312 crore to the Labour Welfare Fund. The fund so far distributed Taka 24.50 crore for the welfare of the labourers.
Md Abul Kalam, Member of Parliament (MP) from Natore-1 constituency, Additional Secretary to the Labour and Employment Ministry Ashraf Shamim, Director General of BLWF Dr Anisul Awal and head of Led Industrial Relations Md Ismail were present at the ceremony.
