Students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) in Gopalganj staged demonstration for the third consecutive day on Tuesday condemning sexual harassment of two female students on the campus.
The agitating students yesterday boycotted classes and examinations and staged sit-in at CSE department demanding the resignation of accused teacher Md Akkas Ali, head of the CSE department for his alleged involvement in sexual harassment.
The sit-in programme began at 10.00am and ended 1.00pm.
Students announced seven days’ protest progarmme including sit-in, hunger strike, mass signature campaign and wearing black badges from April 9 to 15 to press home their demand.
Students started their protest on Sunday following a compliant of sexual harassment filed by two university students that went viral on social media.
In December last year, the two female students of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department brought allegation against departmental head Engineer M Akkas Ali of sexual harassment and demanded justice.
The university authorities, later, formed a four-member committee to probe the incident and suspended the teacher.
