A delegation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University led by its Vice-Chancellor Rear Admiral ASM Baten called on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the President of the objectives of the university saying it will be a specialized university.
The delegation also briefed the President about the subjects to be taught in the university.
President Abdul Hamid wished that the university achieve the objectives for which it has been established. He also expressed his belief that it will march forward.
Secretaries concerned of the President office were present during the meeting.
The government took an initiative last year to set up a maritime university. Parliament on October 23 last year passed the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University Bill, 2013. The President gave assent to the bill on October 26 last.
